What is Renuvion?
Renuvion is a minimally invasive procedure designed to promote contraction and remodeling of the fibroseptal network beneath the skin resulting in tightening of the skin, creating a more youthful and elastic appearance. It involves the use of plasma or an incredibly precise stream of energy that is generated at the tip of the renuvion device with helium gas and radiofrequency energy. Heat is generated to contract the skin while helium gas produces a cooling effect on the treatment area. The combination of the heat and cooling effect contracts the tissues below the skin, producing a tightening effect.

Renuvion Procedure
Local anesthesia in the form of tumescent solution will be used with this procedure and depending on the area that will be treated general anesthesia may be needed as well. Smaller areas can be done with local in the office but larger areas will be done at the hospital or surgery center as an outpatient procedure. Several small incisions will be made in the treatment area. Tumescent solution is infiltrated then a liposuction cannula is use to create tunneling of the area. If liposuction is also to be performed then it would be done at this stage. The Renuvion probe will then be inserted below the skin. The radiofrequency energy, helium and plasma that is emitted will heat and then quickly cool the area to treat the affected tissues.

Renuvion Recovery and Aftercare
Renuvion is an outpatient procedure, meaning that the patient can return home on the day of the procedure. Once the local or general anesthetic wears off, it is common for patients to experience temporary swelling and soreness around the treated area. These symptoms are typically mild and resolve within a few days of treatment. In the case of continued discomfort, patients can apply ice packs and take over-the-counter medication in consultation with Dr. Aya-ay to relieve temporary symptoms. Dr. Aya-ay and her staff will review the postoperative instructions with you at your consultation and again at your preoperative visit to ensure that you are comfortable with your postoperative care.
