What is the Keller Funnel Technique?
The Keller Funnel Technique is a recently-developed method of inserting implants, designed to expedite the process and ensure quality results. The Keller Funnel is a device that can be likened to a cake decorating bag in appearance. After an incision is made, the pre-filled implant will be removed from its original packaging and placed directly into the Keller Funnel with touching the implant. The tip of the device can be easily inserted into an incision. The funnel has a slippery internal coating, minimizing the potential for damage to the implant and ensuring longer-lasting results. The implant can then be transported through the funnel and into the patient’s body. With this No Touch Technique, the implant never touches my gloves, the instruments, the sterile gauze and sterile towels or even the patients skin. This procedure has substantial benefits and therefore Dr. Aya-ay uses this technique in all silicone implant cases.
